Mousumi is a dedicated Chhau dancer who has emerged as an inspiration for many young girls entering an art form traditionally dominated by men. Born in Maldi village of Balarampur, Purulia, she began learning Chhau at a young age under the guidance of her father, Jagannath Choudhury, a respected Chhau exponent. Alongside her performances in Kolkata, Purulia, and Jhargram, she teaches Chhau at her university and works as a part-time school teacher, balancing artistic practice with education.
