The 34 year old Chhau Mask artist Karunasindhu Sutradhar, residing at Charida village in Purulia, has been making masks since the age of 8. His first teacher was his father Late Sankar Sutradhar. His mother’s name is Parvati Sutradhar. He has travelled to several states and has attended several fairs as a Chhau mask artist. He makes different types of Chhau masks such as those meant to be worn during Chhau dance performances, those meant to be used as home décor, new types of masks and so on. At present, he is the Sabhapati of the Chau Mukhosh Shilpi Sutradhar Samiti.
